Alden Jurling

Alden Jurling is seventeen years old and a senior attending The Tutorial School, a Summer-Hill model democratic school, where the students largely choose their own curriculum and schedules. He was home-schooled until fourth grade, during which time he acquired an interest in science and technology. He has been interested in computers since he received his first computer, sometime before he was eight. He began to take a serious interest in programming when he taught himself HTML around the age of thirteen, followed quickly by C and somewhat later C++. Later that same year he and a friend taught a workshop on basic HTML to fellow students. Last year he taught himself Python is now teaching a basic class in Python programming at the Tutorial School. In addition to programming he has intermittently run Linux based computers for access to non-windows tools and for experience. He has taken some Karate and fencing classes. He reads too much Science Fiction and stays up too late, as well.
